The Best Hidden Gems in Durham

Satellite Park

Satellite Park is one of our favorite hidden gems in Durham! Opened on the grounds of the Duke Arts Annex in 2018, the park features eight retired satellite dishes that have been transformed into works of art by local artists. It’s completely free to the public and is a great place to spend a beautiful afternoon.

Duke Lemur Center

Did you know that lemurs are the most endangered mammals on Earth? That’s why the Duke Lemur Center‘s goal is to study, care for, and protect the animals. In fact, the center is the world’s leader of the cause and houses the largest and most diverse population of lemurs outside their native Madagascar. During the warmer months, the center opens to the public for tours. It’s an amazing opportunity to see the animals up close and learn from the experts in the subject.

Food Truck Rodeo

Not necessarily a hidden gem to locals, Food Truck Rodeo is definitely something more tourists should know about!
