History
Durham is an area steeped in history. From the earliest days of the Eno and the Occaneechi Native Americans who called this area home to the European settlers who settled here in the early 18th century, the stories of Durham are all around.
Named after Bartlett Leonidas Durham, our town developed out of his donation of acres of his land made for a rail station that was instrumental in the growth of the area. After Durham’s generous donation, development continued into the 19th century, and the city we know today came into shape!
Our main building dates to 1775, and our property has a rich history! Step back in time and enjoy the many features of our property. We are the only Select Registry and Four Diamond property serving the Triangle cities of Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill, NC. See what makes us so unique!
